during my master's program, i built this platform as a repository of materials and artifacts to showcase the projects i worked on as a graduate teaching assistant as kennesaw state university. even before graduation, i got started on my professional writing portfolio. so that's what this is now: my portfolio!
more about me
my published work
my undergraduate and graduate writing
my philosophy on teaching writing
the kinds of writing i've done are all over the board, but i somehow manage to find joy in every genre, audience, and client i meet. i have experience with blogging, guest posting, web content writing, academic writing, writing for social media, AP style news writing, and--my favorite--writing creative nonfiction.
check out my professional materials read my writing to get to know me beyond my "about me" page. here you can find my more journalistic writing from Georgia Magazine, but "Home at the Old-Fashioned Mom and Pop Shop" deserves a read if nothing else catches your eye.
OR check out my articles on LinkedIn for even more--there, you can also find links to my work for New Perspectives SEO.
in this portfolio, you can find the materials i developed for my ENGL 1101 and 1102 course designs as a teaching assistant (TA) and (now) part-time instructor of English at Kennesaw State University.
the work i've done during my TA program and in higher education has allowed me to grow my project management, public speaking, communication skills to a level I never expected. beyond that, i have so much fun with my students!
in my teaching portfolio, you'll find my most recent syllabi for ENGL 1101 and 1102. the major assignment sheets for both courses, which are structured according to backward course design practices and the TILT framework, are also included on these pages.
on my teaching blog, you can find a variety posts where i discuss topics related to teaching composition and my shadowing experiences. you will find a series of posts framed in response to Adler-Kassner and Wardle's Naming What We Know: Threshold Concepts of Writing Studies, while others are geared toward specific aspects of learning and writing theory. some of these posts are tinged with a bit of....personality at times.
